Originally purchased by Claiborne Dandridge West, from Buckingham County,
Virginia. By the year 1814 he had accumulated more than 30,000 acres of
choice Christian County, Kentucky land for himself, relatives, and friends.
This property today would cover a large part of South Christian County,
Kentucky, and a part of present Trigg County, Kentucky. At the time of his
death in 1822 he still owned almost four thousand acres.
He named his plantation “SUGAR GROVE”...
